Details

May 16, 2020: Start of Season 9

  • Season starts after Saturday’s maintenance at 10:00 UTC
  • After maintenance, ownership of all territories is reset, so all resource territories become unowned
    • They go into an unclaimable state at this point, so no guild can reclaim them yet
  • Over Saturday and Sunday, May 16-17, you will have two opportunities to claim batches of territories:
    • Territories with a primetime starting at 12:00, 15:00, 18:00, 21:00 UTC happen at 18:00 UTC on Saturday
    • Territories with a primetime starting at 00:00, 03:00, 05:00 UTC happen at 01:00 UTC on Sunday
    • A Guardian boss will appear in the territory, which must be defeated for the territory to become claimable. The boss is balanced for groups of about 5 players
  • Guild Challenge starts

May 17, 2020: Territory and Castle Scoring Begins

  • At the start of each territory’s primetime on May 16-17, scoring is enabled for that territory
  • Territories score 40, 80, 120, 160, 200 or 240 Season Points every day at the zone’s primetime, depending on the territory’s position in the Outlands. The closer to the center the Territory is, the more Season Points it scores. For exact value per territory, see: forum.albiononline.com/index.php/Thread/123127.
  • Territory scores can be further increased by leveling up your tower. For details on Territory levels, see: forum.albiononline.com/index.php/Thread/122485
  • You can click on the territory on the map to see how many points it scores
  • Points are scored at the end of each territory’s primetime
  • These territory points are generated by Siphoning Mages, which have the following behavior:
    • They spawn dynamically (1.5h, 2h, 3h, 6h) until the maximum of four are present
    • They can be killed by any player who is not part of the territory guild’s alliance
    • If you kill another guild’s Siphoning Mages, they drop Siphoned Energy
    • Siphoned Energy can be withdrawn (and re-deposited) by Guild Masters and Right Hands
  • NOTE: with Season 9, Siphoned Energy and Season Points generated by territories are now split into two quantities, which are handled differently – for more details, see “Territory Season Point and Siphoned Energy Storage” under “Season 9 Changes” below
  • Castles score 120, 240, 360, 480, 600 or 720 Season Points every day at the zone’s primetime, depending on the castle’s position in the Outlands. The closer to the center the Castle is, the more Season Points it scores
  • Castle Outposts score 30, 60, 90, 120, 150, or 180 Season Points every day at the zone’s primetime, depending on the castle outpost’s position in Outlands. The closer to the center the Castle Outpost is, the more Season Points it scores

May 18, 2020: Territory Battles Start

Beginning with Season 8, territory control shifted from a 5v5 battle system to an open-world battle system. For details of open-world territory control, see: forum.albiononline.com/index.php/Thread/122485

Season 9 Changes

Season 9 will introduce some changes to create more incentives for big power blocks to fight each other. While the following changes will be in effect for Season 9, note that most of these will be introduced with Queen Patch 11, and as such some changes may go into effect before Season 9 begins (for example, non-full-loot rules for Level 1 Crystal League matches).

Season 9 Change: Territory Season Point and Siphoned Energy Storage

Season Points and Siphoned Energy generated by farm and resource territories are now split into two parts, in a ratio based on the zone’s proximity to the center of the Outlands. Here’s how it works:

  • One part is stored locally in the territory
  • The other part is directly transferred, once per day, to the guild currently holding the territory
  • The accumulated points and energy are paid out on specific dates to the owning guild, as follows:
    • The entire accumulated points and energy are paid out directly at three specific dates to whichever guild holds the territory at that point
    • These dates correspond to the two territory reset days and the day territory scoring ends
    • For Season 9, these dates are: June 13, July 11, and August 8
  • Additionally, if the territory is conquered, the new owner immediately seizes 20% of all stored energy and another 20% is destroyed
  • Giving up the territory, for instance to transfer the territory to an ally, will also destroy 20% of the stored points and energy
  • The specific percent of Season Points and Energy stored varies based on the zone’s proximity to the center of the Outlands – for specific percentages, see this forum post: forum.albiononline.com/index.php/Thread/123127

Season 9 Change: Season Points from Veteran and World Bosses

Veteran Bosses (found in static open-world dungeons) and World Bosses now give Season Points. These bosses give the following base point amounts when defeated:

  • Tier 5: Veteran Boss – 3 season points
  • Tier 6: Veteran Boss – 4 season points
  • Tier 7: Veteran Boss – 4 season points / World Boss – 40 season points
  • Tier 8: Veteran Boss – 5 season points / World Boss – 50 season points
  • You will earn more season points the closer you are to the center of the Outlands, with a maximum of up to 6x the base amount.

Season 9 Change: Crystal League Adjustments

  • Level 1 Crystal League matches are no longer full-loot. When a player is killed in a Level 1 match, they will now respawn with all their gear intact, as in the Arena. Levels 2-9 remain at full-loot rules.
  • Level 1-3 Tokens are now directly buyable from the Energy Manipulator for the following prices:
    • Level 1 Token: 100,000 Silver
    • Level 2 Token: 200,000 Silver
    • Level 3 Token: 400,000 Silver
  • The maximum rewards for each level have been adjusted as follows:
    • Level 1: 200,000 Silver / 1 Season Point
    • Level 2: 400,000 Silver / 5 Season Points
    • Level 3: 800,000 Silver / 25 Season Points
    • Level 4: 1,000,000 Silver / 75 Season Points
    • Level 5: 1,300,000 Silver / 200 Season Points
    • Level 6: 1,750,000 Silver / 500 Season Points
    • Level 7: 2,500,000 Silver / 1000 Season Points
    • Level 8: 3,500,000 Silver / 2500 Season Points
    • Level 9: 5,000,000 Silver / 5000 Season Points
    • Off-Season Level 3: 1,100,000 Silver
  • Matches of Level 4 and above now happen much more frequently
  • Level 1 and 2 Item Power Thresholds have been lowered
  • The break between Level 4,5,6,and 7 matches has been reduced from 60 minutes to 30 minutes

Season 9 Change: Alliance Penalty Adjustments

The following adjustments affect guilds and alliances that own 10 or more territories in the first case, and 20 or more in the second.

  • Siphoned Energy Drain:
    • The penalty still starts at 10 Territories, but now increases in increments of 3%:
      • 10 Territories – 3% less total Siphoned Energy
      • 11 Territories – 6% less total Siphoned Energy
      • 12 Territories – 9% less total Siphoned Energy, etc.
  • Fame and Silver Penalty:
    • The penalty now starts at 20 Territories and increases by 1% per additional territory:
      • 20 Territories – 1% reduction in Silver and Fame earned from open-world PvE and activities
      • 21 Territories – 2% Penalty
      • 22 Territories – 3% Penalty, etc.

Season 9 Change: Increased Rank Point Thresholds

This change is made to reflect the higher pool of Season Points obtainable in this season:

  • Crystal = 180,000 → 240,000
  • Gold = 60,000 → 75,000
  • Silver = 15,000 → 20,000
  • Bronze = 3,500 → 5,000
